Edith Bell’s Dear Friends (Anti-War Protest) Tone

Meet Raging Grannie Edith Bell. You may recognize her from yesterday’s post (she joined in on the Black Voices for Peace regularly scheduled Saturday afternoon anti-war protest that I attended on behalf of Locally Toned). After I finished recording the BVFP chant, Edith offered that there were other anti-war or protest songs that might make good tones. She sung me a few bars of a song called Dear Friends, “something we always sing at our Raging Grannies vigils and protests,” she said.

Here’s Edith Bell’s Dear Friends (Anti-War) Protest Tone. You’ll hear Edith singing: “Dear friends, dear friends,/Let me tell you how I feel/Surely war is not the answer/We must work for peace.” You’ll also hear a little bit of street noise.

Thanks for your spontaneous contribution, Edith! You can read more about Edith’s activism and life experiences here.
